  • Overdraft protection is an optional service that helps cover purchase transactions that exceed your available balance and would normally be declined because of insuffiencent funds. ATM withdrawals, bill payments made within the app and sending money to others are not covered by overdraft protection. Overdrafts are paid at our discretion, and we do not guarantee that we will authorize and pay any transaction.

    Cash withdrawals, paying bills within the app and sending money to others are NOT covered.

    You must have an activated, chip-enabled debit card and opt in to overdraft protection to be covered. A $15 fee may apply.

  • Walmart MoneyCard  accountholders who receive eligible direct deposits may qualify for overdraft protection. You must have an activated, chip-enabled debit card and opt in to overdraft protection to receive coverage. Overdraft coverage eligibility also includes factors such as the frequency of deposits to your Account, your Account status, and the transaction history of any Accounts with us.  Overdraft protection is only available on Demand Deposit Accounts. Refer to your Account Agreement to check feature availability.​

  • You will be notified by email, SMS, or push notification. Message and data rates may apply. Or, you can find out by logging in to your account using the Walmart MoneyCard app or WalmartMoneyCard.com and visiting the overdraft protection section.

  • Log in to the Walmart MoneyCard app or website and find “Overdraft protection” in the menu. Follow the directions to opt in and accept the terms and conditions of overdraft protection. Remember, you must meet the direct deposit eligibility requirements before you can opt in to overdraft protection.

    There are two ways to opt out of overdraft protection coverage: the Walmart Moneycard app or WalmartMoneyCard.com

    1) Walmart Moneycard app

    - Log into your account

    - Select Overdraft Protection on the home screen

    - Tap the Opt in to Enable button

    - After reviewing the Overdraft Protection Agreement, tap the Agree and Opt In button to opt in to overdraft protection.

    2) WalmartMoneyCard.com

    - Log into your account

    - Go to the Overdraft Protection block on the home screen

    - Select Opt in to Enable

    - After reviewing the Overdraft Protection Agreement, click Agree and Opt In to opt in to overdraft protection.

    Remember, you must meet the direct deposit eligibility requirements before you can opt in to overdraft protection.  Coverage is based on your direct deposits, overdraft activity, and account status.

  • With an eligible direct deposit, you are covered up to $10 in overdraft protection with no fees. 

    Additional overdraft coverage up to $200 is subject to eligibility criteria. Fees may apply.

  • Only purchase transactions are subject to overdraft protection.

  • Once you opt in to overdraft protection coverage your purchase transactions can be covered by overdraft protection. Overdrafts are paid at our discretion, and we do not guarantee that we will authorize and pay any transaction.

    Cash withdrawals, paying bills within the app and sending money to others are NOT covered.

  • Yes. You must have an eligible direct deposit with opt-in to be eligible for overdraft protection. Additional criteria may apply. Overdraft coverage eligibility also includes factors such as the frequency of deposits to your account, your account status, and the transaction history of any accounts with us. If there are more than 10 overdraft transactions within a statement period (regardless if you have used your full coverage limit or a fee was charged or not) the feature will be temporarily paused for the remainder of your statement period. Your eligibility and coverage can change at our discretion.

  • You are allowed a maximum of 10 overdrafts in a statement period. If there are more than 10 overdraft transactions within a statement period (regardless if you have used your full coverage limit or a fee was charged or not) the feature will be temporarily paused for the remainder of your statement period.

  • Yes, you may opt out of Overdraft Protection at any time by logging into to your account using the Walmart MoneyCard app or WalmartMoneyCard.com. In general, your opt-out request will be effective immediately, and we will send you an email to confirm your opt-out request. However, any pending purchase transactions may still take the account below $0 and result in a $15 overdraft fee.

Cash back, up to $75 per year, is credited to card balance at end of reward year and is subject to successful activation and other eligibility requirements. Redeem rewards using our website or app. You will earn cash back of three percent (3%) on qualifying purchases made at Walmart.com and in the Walmart app using your card or your card number, two percent (2%) at Walmart fuel stations, and one percent (1%) on qualifying purchases at Walmart stores in the United States (less returns and credits) posted to your Card during each reward year. Grocery delivery and pickup purchases made on Walmart.com or the Walmart app earn 1%. Early direct deposit availability depends on payor type, timing, payment instructions, and bank fraud prevention measures. As such, early direct deposit availability may vary from pay period to pay period. The name and Social Security number on file with your employer or benefits provider must match your Walmart MoneyCard account to prevent fraud restrictions on the account.
